Channel 4 are a new Berlin–London based quartet. Emerging from the duo Paroxysm (Werner Dafeldecker & Roy Carroll), whose work has been developing since 2019, the group grew through a 2025 Ireland tour with saxophonist John Butcher and was completed after a London concert and recording session with violinist Angharad Davies.

Drawing on decades of shared history — including Dafeldecker and Butcher’s long collaboration in the influential group Polwechsel, and the ongoing duo work of Butcher and Davies — Channel 4 create music of intense focus and physical presence. Their sound moves through fragile detail and raw force, pulling apart moments in time to reveal dense, shimmering inner worlds. Precision, volatility, and intense listening drive a music that is both visceral and sharply articulated.
